Commentary
John Malvo has an out of sign conjunction of Sun (0 Pisces) and Mercury (29 Aquarius) in square to restrictive Saturn in revenge-oriented Scorpio. Malvo's penchant for dark thinking (Mercury square Saturn) creates a fixed grand square in John Muhammad's chart. (See chart above right). The fixed modality is resistant to change. Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius are the signs of inertia. Muhammad and Malvo, locked in a car together for weeks on end, had plenty of "fixed" time to engage in murky fantasy, explore dark rage, and make stealthy plans.
The Alabama murders at the ABC liquor store occurred on September 21, 2002's Full Pisces Moon at 28 degrees of the sign. A mutable T-square comprised of the Sun, Moon and Saturn set off the duo's fixed grand square. Here is where they became murder machines. Transiting Mercury and Mars both reached 28 degrees Virgo in August and September 2002 making a painful, difficult opposition to John Malvo's out of sign Sun-Mercury conjunction. The mutable T-Square formed to transiting Saturn was pressurized again by T-Saturn's quincunx to Malvo's Scorpionic Saturn. The quincunx set off the disturbing Saturn in natal square to his Mercury-Sun conjunction.
Malvo has no oppositions in his chart between the classical ten planets. His chart pattern is a near perfect bowl filled to the brim with John Muhammad's contents by cross aspect. John's Capricorn planets are in square to Malvo's Mars-Venus conjunction in Aries. The Summer solstice of June 21st conjoined John's natal Mars at 0 Cancer. The Cancer sun then created a t-square square formation by cross-aspect.
Hard aspects demand we do something. We have no choice as to where transiting planets are moving in the heavens at the moment, but we do have choice as to how we will react to those energies. Neither Muhammad nor Malvo came from backgrounds where they were encouraged to thrive upon challenge. The older Muhammed preferred bullying and violence as overcompensation for the empty vessel he had become. He also coldly dragged an underage, inexperienced immigrant boy with him.
June through early September was the rehearsal for the East Coast murders that occurred between October 2 and October 24. The Libra Ingress of September 23rd (two days after the Alabama murders) ignited the East Coast "endgame." Libra Sun and Mercury (and Venus's transit through the sign) created an autumnal cardinal T-square in the men's charts. Venus, Libra's ruler, was powerfully placed in nearly all the murder charts we examinded during the snipers' spree. John Muhammad's rage at a second failed marriage, loss of his children, coupled with domestic violence charges, resulted in his purchasing the rifle. A restraining order had been filed against him by his former wife, which disallows purchase or ownership of a firearm. True to form, Muhammad, who had once slapped an NCO while in the military, again took the law into his own hands. He became a vigilante, a dispenser of random "justice" (Libra/Venus) while raging blindly down Saturn-in-Gemini summer roads. He took 17 year old John Lee Malvo with him. Now Neptune, in direct motion, begins to morphs into another of its forms: Execution by lethal injection.

Fox News
- A gun found in the suspects' car — a Bushmaster AR-15 rifle — had been linked by ballistics to 11 of the 14 shootings, including one in which no one was injured, said Michael Bouchard, an agent with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
- Sources told Fox News that the pair were planning another sniper attack when they were captured. The sources also said a hole was cut in the trunk of the car, making it possible several of the shootings were executed from the trunk.
- Federal court documents say Muhammad sought a silencer for his rifle and told witnesses he could cause more damage with it.
