FOX -- ROCKVILLE, Md. — John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo were set to be arraigned in U.S. District Court for their involvement in the Beltway sniper case. Muhammad was charged with a federal firearm violation.
A gun found in the car at a rest stop where two sniper suspects were arrested is a ballistic match for the weapon used in the killings, sources said. The sniper's three-week murder spree has apparently ended with the arrest of a former military marksman who received an expert badge with an M-16 rifle.
 Police swooped down and arrested the man and a teenage companion, reported to be his stepson, at a Maryland rest stop Thursday morning. Officials said they were certain the pair were responsible for killing 10 people and wounding three others since Oct. 2.
Muhammad, 41, and Malvo, 17, were captured at 3:19 a.m., just a few hours after a warrant had been issued for their arrest. They were found sleeping inside a 1990 blue Chevrolet Caprice with New Jersey plates off I-70 in Frederick County, Md....
Police found a gun, a scope and a tripod in the car, and a law enforcement source said the gun appeared to have the same caliber as the one used in the Beltway shootings. Police were awaiting ballistics tests on the gun. Sources told several media outlets that the gun found was a Bushmaster .223, some versions of which resemble a military M-16."

 We'll start with a look at John Muhammad's chart, add some general observations on the case at large, then examine deeper themes over the next few days. The situation remains fluid; the case keeps expanding; new facts are disclosed by the hour. Since law enforcement has a long way to go yet, we'll take our time with matters and make astro revisions when necessary.
John Allen Williams Muhammed, ex-military man (winner of M-16 shooter's badge, Ft. Lewis, Washington) and recent convert to Islam, has a deeply troubled past involving years of violence. He has two failed marriages behind him, the second of which resulted his wife's filing of a Restraining Order to bar him from committing more violence against her. John Muhammad attempted to kidnap at least one of his own children. Below you'll find some quotes from her Petition for Protective Order.

2/9/2000 - John tried to enter the home to see our son because he was sick. I told him he could not see him because he was asleep. He pushed his way into the house and pushed me out of the way. I ran in the back and called 911 for the police to come. They cam eand said there was nothing they could do without a restraining order.
2/8/2000 - John came over at 7:00 pm to inform he had tapped the phone lines. He said the information he had would destroy me. He started threatening me and I became very unsafe. -- Mildred D. Williams (Muhammad).
Mildred Muhammed said her husband could build anything. Make anything. She meant that what he could built was destructive.

The details of Muhammad's relationship with teenager John Malvo are still unclear, however, at the very least, the 17 year old has been the victim of grave psychological abuse. Muhammed allegedly forced Malvo to eat nothing but crackers and honey, a "vegetarian diet" that Muhammed must have believed purified the kid so that he could also practice Islam. The Stockholm Syndrome (bonding with one's abuser) must explain a great deal of this, otherwise, how can it be that a rational person would assent to riding for months with Muhammad in the 1990 Chevy Caprice -- a vehicle Muhammed remodeled so that it could function as a sniper-mobile?
Jamaica's Foreign Affairs Ministry said a Lee Boyd Malvo is registered as having been born in Kingston on Feb. 18, 1985, to Una James and Leslie Samuel Malvo, and a Lee Malvo attended high school in Jamaica before emigrating to another Caribbean island in 1998 at age of 13. There was no immediate explanation for the different versions of his name.

John's chart, after weighing planet distribution in the signs and noting the elements, equates to Cardinal Earth = Capricorn. (Not all charts turn out elementally to reflect their sun sign).
Ambitious, driven, authoritarian, disciplined, deprived, respectful of authority, a burning desire to be a "master," and fundamentally cold. A calculating sociopath who uses(Capricorn-Saturn's dark side) people and things to raise his status.
He has a dry, hot Gemini Moon that may well square his "the perfect purgation" Pluto at 8 Virgo in quincunx to transiting Neptune in global-vision Aquarius. Both Neptune and Muhammad's Pluto will be in the degree of the Lunar Nodes on Halloween.
[Note: Without a birth time we cannot aspect his Moon to his chart nor work with chart angles. However, we can still discover a great deal about him.]
Muhammed was born in 1960, the year John F. Kennedy was elected President. 1960 was a Jupiter-Saturn conjunction year, the hallmark of American presidential assassinations or deaths in office that have historically plagued presidents elected in "zero" years. Kennedy was assassinated in November, 1963. That Muhammad was born in 1960 and has the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction is eerie. He, like Lee Harvey Oswald, is an assassin who resonates with and practices extreme ideologies.
By contrast, John Lee Malvo, whose chart I'll examine later as I just got it tonight, has his North Node at 22 Taurus. This is the degree of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of 2000. Transiting Saturn in Taurus conjoined Malvo's North Node and squared transiting Uranus in Aquarius three times in 2000 and in 2001 when Bush was Selected for the White House. This T-square hovering so close to Malvo's Aquarian Moon applied the superpressure resulting in the kind of breakdown that would allow for someone like Muhammad to gain a foothold with the child. Malvo's chart is a fixed in three elements: fire, air and water. A Uranian T-square to a Taurean Node AND three Saturn-Pluto oppositions aligned with his natal Uranus at 17 Sagittarius is difficult for an adult, let alone a misguided child.
It is my contention that Muhammad's birth at the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of 1960, and John Lee Malvo's North Node receiving the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of May 2000, are two important astrological finds that show how these two individuals would play a life changing role in American society whether for good or ill. These two individuals ARE weapons of mass destruction. They are the perfect models for our times.
Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions are related to 20 year cycles in America where her entire agenda is reworked. Social changes, for good or ill, take place under these conjunctions as well as vast changes in the economy and in government. We are witnessing the offloading (still!) of the defining Eclipse of August 1999 (fixed grand square) and the subsequent Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of May 2000. Uranus' square to Saturn in Taurus in 2000 is the iconoclastic split with the past. America's identity continues to change as does her culture, as a result of September 11, 2001.
Note that Muhammad and Malvo were apprehended as the Moon in Taurus crossed Malvo's North Node in Taurus and changed to the sign, Gemini. Once the Moon entered Gemini, Muhammed was experiencing his Lunar Return for the month of October!
I noted that I believed that the sniper was not operating alone. I believed he had a partner. I also believed that what set him off was a series of domestic blows in connection with a lover or a wife. I was wrong about the vehicle. Instead of a van with writing on the side, we now know that it was the dark blue 1990 Chevy Caprice.
But back to Muhammed:
Muhammed, born in 1960, was too young for the Civil Rights Movement; the Pluto-Uranus conjunction of the 1960's Hippie age; and for the Vietnam War. However, like Timothy McVeigh, who I suspect he is very much like, Muhammed served in the Gulf War and was decorated for it. Like McVeigh, he had hopes, illusions and fantasies of being in military special forces.
John Muhammad sympathezied with the Al Qaeda forces that attacked the USA on September 11th. He trained in a militia style camp in Alabama called Ground Zero USA. His Venus in Aquarius is opposed by Uranus retrograde at 25 Leo. Yes, the obvious: transiting Uranus is conjunct his natal Venus opposing his natal Uranus, or: "welcome to the mid-life crisis." He doesn't appear to be handling it well. Excuse the understatement. This opposition testifies to at least one divorce in life, and more than hints at the domestic violence issues of 2000. That, in connection with the three Saturn Pluto oppositions of 2001-2002, (making hits earlier to his natal Pluto and Gemini Moon) and we get a dry, brittle, harsh interior that exploded into a raging wildfire of murder.
His planetary dispositors are one single line starting with Saturn.
Saturn rules Sun, Mercury and Jupiter. Mercury rules Pluto, and Pluto rules Neptune. Mercury also rules the Moon and the Moon rules Mars. The Sun rules Uranus and Uranus rules Venus and Chiron. I mention the continuous line because a) not everyone has this; and b) I think its descriptive of Muhammad's straight line, obsessed thinking. It works for him as an adherent to Islam (choosing a violent interpretation of it); it works for his obsessed movements across the country (and murder and robbery of liquor store in Montgomery, Alabama); his unrelenting purpose and concentration at stalking locations, lying in wait for victims to shoot, and his stealth at fleeing murder scenes.
Muhammad's Capricorn planets in opposition to Mars in Cancer (not a happy place for angry Mars) shows problems somewhere/somehow with authority and issues around rules, rule minding and the deprivations of enforced "perfect" behavior where Cancerian nurturance was denied or forbidden by a very angry person in John's early life. His father may have been military or cop, and Sun alone in opposition to Mars shows a huge wellspring of rage at male figures.
I don't think that I will be too far "off" if I mention that this much Capricorn and Aquarius (Venus-Chiron), where Saturn is the ancient ruler of Aquarius, might eventually lead us to discover that Muhammad has trouble with his knees or other bones and joints. He may show signs of early arthritis. After all, he doesn't exactly handle anger very well and that toxicity is permeating his bones and tissues. Further, we may discover that he has suffered broken bones and fractures at various junctures in his life and those old "war wounds" are now acting up at middle age. Too, he may be suffering tooth decay after a long period of neglect.
Muhammed's chart has been explosively pressurized over the summer and into autumn 2002. His Chiron in Aquarius: the wound of not ever being able to "belong" to the world community nor contribute to a humanitarian cause (what? Violent Islam?!) has been ignited by this year's Mars cycle; by Uranus' hit upon his Venus and Chiron (opposing natal Uranus) and by transiting Saturn at 28-29 Gemini and by Mars' transit through Leo in July when it conjoined his natal Uranus and opposed Muhammed's natal Venus-Chiron. Venus conjoined to Chiron also shows John's marriage wounds. He has been unable to join himself to one of humanity's most cherished dreams: union with a lover. And union with love itself for humanity as a whole. This is a deeply cold, alienated being whose attempts at chatter and jokes (his former wife says he's very talkative) cannot disguise his own perception of his inner truth: he is alone and adrift upon a cold rock in space.
Muhammad's Chart Hits The USA's
Muhammed's Venus and Chiron at 25 and 28 Aquarius, respectively, hit the USA's natal Moon and progressed Sun. They widely trine the USA's Mars at 21 Gemini setting off the USA's square to Neptune at 22 Virgo. It may be that the USA's Mars conjoins Muhammad's natal Moon in Gemini. Because the USA's Neptune is in its 9th house of foreign policy and foreign ideology, this may link Muhammad to American born sympathizers of Osama bin Laden.
A man like Muhammed MUST claim ascension, prominence, mastery and control over SOMETHING. This is the Capricorn challenge. In that he has demonstrated that he cannot do this in mainstream American life, he has chosen to do it on America's backroads cruising with a hypnotized kid claiming to be a natural born killer.
His Pluto falls in the USA's 12th house of secrets and quincunx's its natal Uranus at 8 Gemini. It may be that Muhammed's Moon is 8 Gemini, a fact not lost upon the transiting nodes, Neptune at 8 Aquarius, nor John's natal Pluto at 8 Virgo.
The USA's Sun/Venus midpoint is 8 Cancer, conjunct John's Mars.
The USA's Mars/Uranus midpoint is 15 Gemini, another candidate for the degree of John's Moon.
The USA's Venus/Uranus midpoint is 21 Gemini, conjoined to the USA's natal Mars at 21 Gemini, which may be John's natal Moon degree.

John Muhammad's progressed Pluto is 7 Virgo (retrograde at birth) and is in the degree of his natal Lunar Nodes. Pluto is conjunct his Mercury ruled Virgo North Node and opposite his Neptune ruled Pisces South Node. His progressed Nodes are at 6 degrees, respectively. His natal and progressed Nodes are currently in a square aspect relationship to the transiting Gemini/Sagittarius lunar nodes. Those nodes will soon be at 8 degrees, (John's natal Mars at 8 Cancer, progressed Venus at 8 Aries, T-Neptune at 8 Aquarius, and the USA's Uranus), then 7 degrees (which squares John's Natal Nodes and in the degree of his natal Mercury at 7 Capricorn) and of course, 6 degrees, squaring John's progressed Nodes. Nodal contacts and nodal squares are highly pressurized chart contacts indicating strongly fated choices and consequences in high-profile cases such as this one.
As we will see later, 28 degrees of the signs hold special significance for John Muhammad, the United States and for the onset and subsequent capture of this serial killer. That is where we will pick up again tomorrow.
