George W. Bush/Tri-Wheel W/Progressions & Transits

Tonight at two minutes after 9:00 PM EDT, George Bush will address our beleaguered nation from New Orleans, Louisiana. Adjusting for time differences, Bush will actually commence his speech at 8:02 PM CDT from his NOLA perch in the Pelican State.*
As can be seen by the Triwheel of charts to your left, Bush is under tremendous strain. He's been knocked off his game with such fury that it remains to be seen if Karl Rove, Bush's personal Machiavelli, can engineer a resurrection of trust and popularity in the Kabuki Theatre president to reignite his second act.
Just for the fun of it, Machiavelli (See Bio) was born May 3, 1469 in Florence, Italy. His Sun at 21 Taurus is conjoined by T-Mars today, both of which fall by interception in Bush's 10th house. His Jupiter at 27 Cancer is conjoined to Bush's Saturn and his Venus is conjoined to Bush's Midheaven. Machiavelli's Venus square Jupiter indicates that he'd eventually go a bridge too far because the two benefics make a T-square to M's Chiron. Both M's Sun and Venus are very close to nodal degree (fated links/events) in Karl Rove's chart. Authors James C. Moore and Wayne Slater, In their groundbreaking book, "Bush's Brain, How Karl Rove Made Bush Presidential," point out that Karl Rove's favorite book is Machiavelli's "The Prince." He rereads it at least twice a year. You can't make this stuff up!
There are many aspects to be uncovered by studying the Tri-wheel, but let's stick with the strongest factors, because we need only get ahold of the keys to open the door. We don't need to take if off it's hinges.
On September 12, transiting Saturn at 7 Leo conjoined Bush's Ascendant. Take note that on September 13-14 Bush announced that he would be speaking to the country from Louisiana on September 15 and that he "takes responsibility" for what went wrong with the government's poor response to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I don't know if anyone saw Bush's announcement where he uttered words about the problems, but his face contorted and he looked away as if admitting to wrongs was so foreign to his being that it permanently damaged his DNA.
Saturn is the planet associated with responsiblity. The responsibility of which we speak can be the result of a heap of neglect and mismanagement that has reached a tipping point where facing it can no longer be avoided. This is what astrologer's find to be the case when Saturn contacts Neptune. Even the gentler aspects such as the sextile or trine can be problematic because the truth is, Saturn is a downer and no one likes the party to end. The hard aspects (square, opposition and quincunx) indicate a difficult struggle when confronting harsh reality.
This "responsibility" speech is a smoke and mirrors arrangment cooked up by Karl Rove. Pundits never tire of pointing out that had Nixon gone before the American public and talked to them about the Watergate break-in and taken responsibility for it by firing the culprits (instead of engaging in cover-ups), he wouldn't have been forced to resign. That's the real reason Bush is speaking to the public this evening. The Tri-wheel for his Second Inauguration, it's progressions to date and the chart for his speech is included below. Note that Neptune of SPIN and dissembling is culminating in the 10th house of the Tri-wheel charts.
Saturn in Leo, the sign of high drama (like Kabuki Theatre!) and ego is the bucket of cold water in Bush's face. The closer the taskmaster gets to it's opposition with fantasy Neptune (currently transiting Bush's 7th house of open enemies and close advisors), the more crushing Bush's political and human realities will become.
Rumors about Bush having broken his sobriety are already floating on the toxic waters of the D.C. Beltway's rumor mill. Doubts about his emotional stability have been raised for a couple of years now.
Saturn's roll over Bush's Ascendant is super trumped by it's merger with his Mercury on October 1, the day Mars stations for it's two month retrograde. Saturn with Mercury can manifest (Saturn must always manifest as something. That's it's job as master of the earth domain!) several different ways. It can indicate high levels of concentration and directed intelligence. I would not exactly bank on Bush using the energy in that manner because he's not, er, much of an intellectual. I am more disposed towards seeing Saturn's hook into his Mercury as depression, especially with the Neptune opposition. The aspect is more like a pin bursting a balloon.
Bush's Pluto, linked with his obsessive, fanatic repetitions of the same shallow themes coupled with excessive loyalty and revenge, is also going to be set off by Saturn's transit because it's only a degree past Bush's Mercury.
His Venus at 21 Leo won't take the hit from Saturn until 2006, but intimations of a great loss of power and popularity are to be found in his progressed chart. His progressed Venus at 3 Scorpio is square his progressed Saturn at 3 Leo. Note that on Sunday transiting Venus squares transiting Saturn, so we're seeing the "loss of popularity" theme repeated several different ways in Bush's chart.
Bush's progressed Sun at 10 Virgo is still closely aligned with his natal Mars (9 Virgo) and is opposed by transiting Uranus. This is the "Lightning Struck Tower" image from the Tarot Deck. Hurricane Katrina and severe setbacks in Iraq are two "bolts out of the blue" that have overturned Bush's political apple cart. No one likes to face the fact that at some point and in some way he/she has to confront limits to personal power and control or even one's own mortality. These bolts out of the Uranian blue are exactly what Bush is being shown: the limits to power are set by THE UNKNOWN. My assessment of Bush's reactions to date are that he will not reckon with these lessons very well.
The Uranus-Mars-Progressed Sun factors were mentioned by several astrologers as the Tecumseh's curse hour. They warned that Bush should be careful because assassination could loom around the next corner for several months to come. However, this is not the likely outcome of the aspect. Because the aforementioned planets form a T-square to his Inauguration Moon (9 Gemini) and the USA's natal Uranus (8 Gemini), my take on opposition aspect is that Bush will be beset with unexpected loss after loss after loss of popularity (the Venus-Saturn factors) and political power.
Transiting Pluto is opposing Bush's progressed Uranus (21 degrees Sagittarius/Gemini, respectively) along his 5th house/11th house axis. Transiting Pluto opposes the USA's Mars and Bush's progressed Uranus conjoins it. This aspect is more likely to manifest as obstacles and struggles with Congress, especially his own party because they predominate in all three branches of government now. These struggles will be over powerful and uncontrollable issues such as monies to continue war in Iraq and how to fund the rebuilding of New Orleans post Katrina, and whether to cancel or reverse Bush's egregious tax cuts which have left America with a nearly broken spine.
A general observation is needed in regards to upcoming planet transits. Mars remains in Taurus until February 17, 2006. Neptune remains in Aquarius until April 5, 2011 where it will first test its waters in its home sign, Pisces after its 165 year journey around the Sun. (Neptune will retrograde back into Aquarius for a few months in 2011). Saturn will transit Leo until September 3, 2007, and Jupiter will travel through Scorpio for 13 months commencing October 26, 2005.
My mention of these transits is because all of them fall in the fixed sign modality. Each of the foregoing, at 16 degrees of the fixed signs, reiterates the message contained in the 1999 fixed grand square eclipse that presaged the new millennium. Recall that in 1999, after the eclipse, major earthquakes were set off in Turkey and Greece.
When Uranus slipped into Pisces in March 2003 (it did one last retro into Aquarius that year, too) it set up a mutual reception between itself and Neptune in Aquarius (two planets are given space in each other's signs). The mutual reception saw the great Tsunamis in Asia which were the result of vastly powerful undersea earthquakes and, of course, a violent hurricane season culminating in Katrina on August 29, 2005.
At the same time, the fixed sign planetary line up calls attention to all that becomes entrenched. Key words are bogged down, stonewalling, stubborness, digging in your heels, and quagmire, to name a few. The Bush administration will fight hard to maintain primacy in all political arenas, including Iraq. After Bush's Mea Culpa speech tonight, it will be back to business as usual.

Bush 2nd Term Inauguration Chart W/Progressions & 9/15/05 Speech Transits
 This Tri-wheel shows the stresses in Bush's inauguration chart (second term), its progressions and the transits setting if off via tonight's Mea Culpa Bush speech.
Mars is in the first house of the Triwheel chart at 21 degrees Taurus, very close to the sensitive 22 degree mark of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Taurus back in 2000. A large number of planets grouped together in Taurus in May 2000 as well, and since Taurus is the rising sign of the presidential inauguration chart each and every time (12 Noon on January 20 every 4 years), this venus ruled sign becomes highly charged for America and the presidency.
Note that presently Mars is in a YOD formation wtih Transiting Pluto, and Inauguration Pluto and Mars both natal and Progressed. The other leg of the Yod quincunxes transiting Jupiter at 21 Libra and Inauguration Jupiter at 18 Libra. Bush's progressed Jupiter is at 25 Libra and progressed Venus is at 26 Libra. Both are conjoined the the USA's natal Moon (the public).
Today's YOD Mars (the release valve) will get opened out again next February 2006 before Mars leaves Taurus for Gemini (and the USA's natal Uranus and squares Bush's natal Mars!). There is a strong likelihood of Bush having to fight his way through Katrina and Iraq's morass so vehmently that he loses what little is left of his political control. It seems likely that the public will become more and more distressed with the administration and even those of Bush's own party will begin distancing themselves from him.
The Inauguration chart's progressed Moon is at 17 Gemini, which is very close to Bush's natal Uranus, North Node and the USA's Mars. It is well within orb of an opposition with transiting Pluto. This shows a life and death struggle with the public (Moon), particularly with the support of women. Judge John Roberts is set to be confirmed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and one of Bush's hallmarks for his presidency has been war upon women and women's reproductive rights via Roe v. Wade and international funding for women's clinics denied (his very first act as president January 21, 2001) because these clinics may perform abortions.
John Roberts' confirmation hearings are underway at the same time we are watching the aftermath of Katrina unfold. The T-Square with the Inauguration Moon (progressed) in Gemini opposite Inauguration Mars Pluto and Transit Pluto both in square to T-Mercury-Sun in Virgo is a mutable (changeable) configuration that flows out the heart (Sun) of the message (Mercury) in health conscious Virgo. Because Transiting Saturn has just crossed over the USA's North Node in the 8th house of public mortality, we may well have repeated issues of health outbreaks in Lousiana and perhaps elsewhere via Avian flu or West Nile virus. Certainly the toxic sludge and waters of a polluted New Orleans is bound to spawn health hazards for those who are being exposed to E-Coli and various other bacteria that cause fungus, infections and a myriad of other toxicities.
Saturn's tranists of the USA's North Node in Leo have brought to bear outbreaks of various kinds through the decades.
Saturn in USA North Node, August 15, 1917: 1917-1918 Pandemic Flu Outbreak. In 1921, FDR, prior to his first term as president, contracted Polio. In 1920 Love Canal was first used as a toxic waste disposal only to erupt into public attention decades later.
September 26, 1946: Post Hiroshima/Nagasaki. Radiation sickness.
Saturn in USA North Node, July 29, 1976: The year of Legionnaire's Disease. America discovers that buildings can be sick and spread epidemics. three years later in 1979, Three Mile Island power plant disaster.
Saturn in USA North Node, September 7, 2005: Hurricane Katrina. Prior to that, in 1999, we discovered the first outbreaks of West Nile Virus. Currently the CDC and world health organizations are worried about the outbreak of the Avian virus. Humans have no immunity to bird flu.
Bush's Mea Culpa speech this evening will draw his faithful ever closer and elict a few snuffles from those who imbibe tonight's Kool-Aid (after all, the Pisces full Moon is in two days), but over all, the aspects as laid out in the tri-wheel don't support a rousing "victory" or rally round the flag for George Bush. The YOD and the ever-changing factors in the mutable T-square mean a lot of dancing around intractable (fixed signs inhabited by strong planets over the long haul), unrelenting brutal circumstances.
