January 27, 2003Hans Blix Reports to the U.N. Security Council The late Ascendant, 29 Aries, reveals that the Iraq situation is at the end of its rope. Aries' ruler, Mars, is conjoined to the South Node of unfinished business in the 8th house of dire circumstances. The Moon has just rolled over the Mars-Node contact and will connect with "no turning back" Pluto at 7:35 AM, tomorrow, the day of Mr. Bush's State of the Union Address.
It has been reported that Bush will try to raise the support of the American people for his tax cuts and medicare reform as well as war on Iraq. Bush's confidante, Karen Hughes, is in Washington privately coaching Bush on his delivery of the speech. Karen Hughes' trip to Washington at this time signals how serious the White House views the impact of the State of the Union address. Pluto is at 19 Sagittarius and is conjoined to the 8th house Bush Inauguration Moon. It conjoins transiting Venus (opposite Saturn) and squares Inauguration Venus. Pluto and Saturn in this last wider opposition create a T-square to Inauguration Venus in that chart's 11th house of Congress. Bush is losing support, even from Republicans in the Senate (11th house), as he and his warlords (6th House, Mercury ruled Virgo) in the Pentagon draw their six-guns inside the Foreign Policy OK-Coral. Hans Blix's report and chief nuclear inspector Mohamed El Baradei's report (3rd house Gemini, ruled by Mercury conjunct wounding/wounded Chiron) was a 50-50 split opinion. It was almost as though they had privately discussed how to create a hung jury. Blix says Iraq has not been forthcoming. El Baradei said more time must be given the weapons inspectors as progress was being made. Another Orwellian day in the neighborhood. [All we need is George Orwell to pose as Mr. Rogers. Ashcroft would be Captain Kangaroo Court, but that's another story.] It is all a set-up for the State of the Union Address. Colin Powell, once the cooler head prevailing, now shrieks as stridently as Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz and Perle, our Dr. Strangelovean Quartet. It is because France and Germany publicly announced they would NOT support a Bush invasion of Iraq. "Old Europe," Rummy called them. Sort of like "Old man," but that's Saturn and the gray eminence is retrograde and withholds its approval from Venus of diplomacy as he battles Pluto who continues to rip out the ground from beneath him. This is a dismal beginning of a week in Star Time. Venus-Saturn at odds with each other. Mercury in Capricorn conjunct Chiron -- a gaping wound exposing presidential authority for the lame little creature it is underneath. Bellicosity and swagger have nothing to do with maturity. Real authority carries itself with such class that you're never made to feel less than those who propose to lead you. This is not the Bush administration. They lack common courtesy with our very allies. The Texas gunslinging archetype doesn't work in Europe. They don't "get it." I personally never liked America's cowboy crap, and I like it even less now. CNN online reports that Ariel Sharon is already writing his victory speech. The election isn't until tomorrow in Israel, but what the hell. He already knows he has it in the bag just as Bush knew that brother JEB could guarantee delivery of the State of Florida. CommentaryMonday, January 27, marks the day Hans Blix must report to the U.N. Security council on the progress of weapons inspectors in Iraq. To date, we have found no smoking gun. January 2, 2003's Mercury retrograde in mutual reception with Saturn retrograde slowed the Bush juggernaut enough so that the antiwar coalition, philosophers, politicans and the clergy could catch their breath long enough to mount an organized, coherent protest against war in Iraq. Monday's U.N. date finds the Sagittarius Moon conjoined to warring Mars in a relationship called an occultation. [chart not shown.] Think of it as "an eclipse of Mars." Because Mars is the stronger of the two planets, it is the Moon that will get hurt. She will hurt because her inclination towards empathy and comfort are brutalized by Mars' impatience with delicacy. Pluto and Venus are also transiting philosophical Sagittarius and are opposing Saturn. Venus will also be hurt by critical Saturn. Saturn, the "law" that stones women, withdraws approval and support from the Goddess. Moon and Venus are, then, hindered by Mars and Saturn. The voices of empathy and diplomacy are drowned out by the drums (Mars) of aggression. Transiting Pluto is now conjoined to Bush Inauguration Moon (8th house) and squares exalted Venus in Pisces (intercepted) in the Inauguration chart's 11th house -- Congress. Senators now rue the day they voted to give Bush a blank check on how he would prosecute the war on terror. It looks to me like The United Nations Security Council will tell Bush that there is no reason to preemptively strike Saddam. Indeed, France, Germany, China and Russia have already stated that they will not join the coalition. They work against Bush in an effort to delay the assault. The Moon and Mars also conjoin the South Node of the chart in the 8th house of death and loss. The South Node is the past. And "6" is the degree of the USA's lunar nodes. Although in different signs, "6" becomes important. A recent article in the Denver Post reports that quietly the Pentagon is discussing the idea of diggning mass graves in which to bury our soldiers if they are struck will biological or chemical weapons. This is to protect the rest of our forces from contagion. The USA's North Node at 6 degrees Leo (1 degree less than Bush's natal Ascendant) was struck by Neptune during World War I. That is when Mustard Gas was used as a chemical weapon against the USA's military and others in Ypres, Belgium. This is a horror movie. Neptune of "gases" conjoined the USA's South Node, 6 Aquarius, at the time Bush won the presidency by 5 votes given by the U.S. Supreme Court. Then 9-11. Then Anthrax in the mail. The economy (The USA's south node is in its second house of the peoples' money) has gone down the plutonic (Pluto at 27 Capricorn in house 2) crapper with two flushes: two tax cuts to the rich coupled with the egregious rape of the American people perpetrated by Enron, Worldcom, et al. The Bush administration blames 9-11 and/or Clinton for the bad economy. Anything but their own Kleptogarchy. Bush, who grows increasingly more irrational the more bitter and impatient Rumsfeld becomes, has said, via 'a White House' source quoted at Capitol Hill, "The President considers this nation to be at war, and as such, considers any opposition to his policies to be no less than an act of treason." So much for Democracy and the hope for cooler heads to prevail. Mercury at 13 Capricorn is conjunct Chiron. Both oppose Bush's natal 12th house Sun and the USA's birth Sun at 13 Cancer. These two planets fall in the second house of the State of the Union Address chart. More on this anon...Sabian Symbol for the Asc/MC Midpoint, 26+ Aquarius*** AQUARIUS 27 ***AN ANCIENT POTTERY BOWL FILLED WITH FRESH VIOLETS. There is a feeling here of purity of motive and content. The simpler, more natural responses to problems and society can often bring us a sense of refreshment and realignment with what is beautiful. Returning to ancient sources. Flower remedies. Beauty. Setting standards for society. If negative - lack of subtlety. Insensitivity. Slowing down the tempo to get to the purity of the situation. [remember to round up to the next highest degree.] What is underscored is the need to slow down the tempo to "get to the purity of the situation." A thing Bush and Rumsfeld see no necessity in doing. Bush wants to be re-elected so needs a decisive military victory to distract Americans from his wreckless handling of America's money; abysmal mistakes in North Korea; and from the program to gut women of their reproductive right to choose. Bush's policies in this regard make as much sense as his objection to providing Africans with condoms because condoms break. He ought to apply that logic at home: Bush makes mistakes, therefore Bush ought not be president. Bush should step down. It works for me. The state of the Union address finds retrograde Saturn in the 10th house of the chart, describing the Commander Chief, George W. Bush. Retrograde Saturn is an apt a description I could ever think of, and it makes me laugh and cry so hard at the same time that I am reluctant to comment. Not really. I'd love to comment. The key to this chart is comprised of the aforementioned Saturn retrograde square the Ascendant/Decendant axis opposite Pluto, Venus and the Moon in Sagittarius. At the root of it (4th house) Venus withdraws her support and whispers that its all the result of another agenda (Pluto). That is, the people withdraw their support. Retrograde Saturn indicates a president beleagered and at odds with the majority. The Saturn-Venus-Moon opposition falls across the 1/7 house axis of the USA's chart (below). The people, as signified by the USA Ascendant aren't going to buy it. State of the Union Moon sextiles the USA's Aquarius Moon. Here is the opportunity (sextile) for the people to weigh in by making their more revolutionary/radical disenchantment with Bush's policies known. This is, in short, the burgeoning Antiwar movement that is reaching global proportions. Bush's plan to attack Iraq is held in check by Transiting Saturn's conjunction on the USA's 7th house Mars. Saturn delays. Saturn impedes. Bush's natal and progressed Uranus are conjoined to the USA's Mars, and but for Saturn's limitations, we would already see the daisy cutter bombs falling on Baghdad at this moment. Saturn turns direct on February 22nd, and that is the last time for 29 and 1/2 years Saturn will wrap its gray cloak around the USA's Mars and beat it about the head and shoulders so that it remains more sedate. [The square to Mars when Saturn conjoins the USA's Neptune in 7 years will signal a global oil crisis involving the very same players that divide Iraq after Bush is done destroying it.] The State of the Union? Pluto, Venus and Moon oppose Mars, Saturn and Bush's Uranus. The aforementioned planets create a grand mutable T-square to the USA's 9th house Neptune (oil and lies) in its 9th house of foreign policy. The State of the Union? Our ship of state is in disarray and is yet another diaster in the making. Mercury and Chiron in Capricorn oppose the USA's Sun (and Bush's Sun) and are in T-square to Bush's natal Moon, which conjoins the USA's Natal Saturn in Libra. The talk will be about the economy and about fairness and about justice and about bringing the Axis of Evil to Justice, and about pursuing Saddam and bringing him to justice and about weapons of mass destruction. And a growing number of Americans and other citizens of the planet will not buy it. As you may recall, I have mentioned several times that Saturn's transit into the sign Cancer (June 4, 2003) will quickly hit Bush and the USA's Sun and square the USA's Saturn in Libra. What you're about to see via Mercury and Chiron's positions at the time of the State of the Union address is the seeding of what comes when limiting Saturn comes to "deny" Bush's Sun -- the very heart of anyone's chart. A growing loss of vitality and Bush's own growing distrust of himself will be more baldly projected upon those around him. January 2, 2003's New Moon at 12 Capricorn is a highly sensitive and thin-skinned planetary position for the United States. This New Moon by itself pressed upon the USA's Sun in square to Saturn -- a Sun that struggles to maintain its self-esteem while feeling "less than" because of Saturn's constant guilting tripping against the Venus-Saturn conjunction in Cancer: "You have it all, but you don't deserve it, America!" Hence, this deep belief is projected outside to our enemies who vocalize our secret shame. Bush's 12th house Sun in contact with his natal Saturn and so closely in square to the USA's Saturn gives us a very thin-skinned, short-tempered, paranoid guy. Look, too, at his Mercury-Pluto conjunction in Leo. I called that his obsession with death. My colleague, astrologer Sally McDonald said that it was, and that since it was in Leo, Bush wants to take everyone with him. I couldn't agree more. Isn't this, "You're either with me or against me?" or: "any opposition to his [Bush] policies to be no less than an act of treason"? Off with their heads! My intuitive sense is that the State of the Union speech is going to be an embarassment. Mercury-Chiron can be "foot in mouth." The White House's judgment has proven to be poor when assessing world reaction to its words. "Axis of Evil" is, in part, what drove the Wing Nut in North Korea over the edge. Kim Il Jong, who has the largest collection of Daffy Duck cartoons of anyone in the world (that should be a clue), is even wackier than Bush. The two make quite a pair. Tonight's offering is a glimpse through a dirty window while furiously trying to clean it with what's left of the Windex. Neptune is in Bush's 7th house, and we see the world through Bush's eyes whenever he opens his mouth. Bush is like the lens on the Hubble Telescope that was originally placed on it backwards.
