The
radical Islamic militia, which captured Kabul five years ago after a bitter civil war among rival warlords, appeared to have
abruptly abandoned the capital rather than wage a battle to defend it.
"Everywhere in the city, there was nobody," Gul said.
"The Taliban have all left."
