The center of anywhere is Leo. Just ask! The Lion's magnificent Sun Ruler frames his/her head like a golden crown -- a red-orange aura of pride, nobility and ... ego. Leo is the quintessential monarch holding court in the office, laundromat, and board room. Filled with ardor, creativity and a sense of play, this gulliable cat can inspire, entertain, achieve, plan and delegate with royal authority. But there is more to Leo than this. As the "heart," Leo is the well-spring of self regeneration through its creative drive. Assigned to the 5th house of children, recreation, gambling, sports, actors/actresses, and sometimes dramatists, Leo's need for applause hides what's underneath. The lion is insecure and tests him/herself on the stage of life by "performing" the feelings and ideals the lion holds in secret.

Leo's are fiercely loyal to those they love. They also expect the same in return. It takes time to be admitted to the leonine circle, but once accepted, Leo expects a pledge of fealty. Then Leo's favors know no bounds. Disagreeing with a Leo can be something like an act of treason. The punishment carries a stiff penalty -- banishment from the royal circle. However, Leo is not prone to carrying grudges. One act of contrition on our part brings forth a warm cat purr of acceptance.

The consummate performer, Leos are found on stage and in film. Even the ordinary Leo man or woman will often be the most noticeable person at the bar, dinner party, or theatre, for Leos adore good drama and fine eating and drinking. Leo works arduously to achieve success in business not solely for the financial security it affords him, but for the luxuries. Cats love to pamper and be pampered. Leo is good at winning the game of life, and is often lucky at games of chance. Fire signs in general seem to be good at Vegas tables and at board games and poker.

The downside of all this fire is an unbalanced Leo who turns up as a braggart, bully and tyrant. Extreme cases are Leos whose egos are so uncontrolled as to demand the universe break its laws in order to serve the Lion. The balancing mirror of truth for Leo is its opposite sign, Aquarius. The Uranian ruled Waterbearer harmonizes Leo's imbalances by presenting psychic images of humanitarianism, equality, scientific scrutiny, and detachment. Once Leo learns that the spotlight is big enough to shine on all life, the Lion truly takes on its magnificient red-orange aura. Leo's natural generosity and desire to please become less manipulative and more genuine. Leo has a big enough heart to do it.
